結び目が梅の花のように見えることから名付けられた梅結びは、「固い絆」「運命向上」「魔除け」の3つの意味を持ちます。梅が冬を乗り越えて春に咲くことや梅結びが複雑な結び方であることからこのような意味が込められたと考えられています。
The plum knot, named after the knot that looks like a plum blossom, has three meanings: "strong bond," "improvement of destiny," and "warding off evil." It is thought that these meanings were included because plum blossoms survive the winter and bloom in the spring, and because the plum knot is a complicated way to tie it.


水引の玉結びには、「固く結ばれて離れないように」「願い事が叶うように」などの意味が込められています。
The Mizuhiki tama knot has meanings such as "tied tightly so that they will not come apart" and "for wishes to come true."
